It’s been nearly a week that I’ve been trying to sit down and write a little something about my daughters field trip last week, and time just seems to escape me!
First of all…… riding on a bus full of 3rd and 4th graders? Probably not my smartest idea! It took every ounce of responsibility in me not teach the kids how to “surf” in the aisles and how to “catch the best bumps”! Ahhhhh, those were the days! I warn you that the below video may be considered intense, but it still cracks me up! Mainly because I can so vividly remember being one of “those kids” along with my middle sister when we were trusty school bus riders! Image may be NSFW.

As we were riding along, all I could think of was the field trip scene from ‘Billy Madison’. “Who would steal thirty bagged lunches?”

One of the students, bless his heart, insisted on talking to me almost the entire ride. Initially, I found it amusing, cute even. That was until he saw me take my phone out and said: “Wow!! I’ve never seen a phone that old that still flips open like that!” GREAT. Shamed into getting a smartphone by a 3rd grader!
It’s amazing to me the things that kids are willing and eager to talk about. It makes me second-guess everything I’ve ever said to my kids! I can only IMAGINE what they’re repeating! One little boy approached me and we had THIS convo:
Random boy: “I like ice cream and wine!”
Me: “You’re silly!”
Random boy: “No, really. I’ve had wine before!”
Me: “Ummmmmmm, honey. I’m pretty sure that your parents don’t want you telling strangers that!”
Our visit to ‘Simply New York’ was fantastic, and ironically they sell ice cream wine! I tried to steer the random, wine drinking child clear of the freezer! Image may be NSFW.

If you’re in the Rochester area and looking for a gift that is thoughtful and unusual, this is the store to check out! All merchandise is created right in New York State! How neat is that?
Following our stop at ‘Simply New York’, we made our way next door to Mozzeroni’s where my daughters teacher surprised all the students by announcing that each child could make their own pizza!

I must say, I could never be a teacher! Wow those kids were exhausting! You know what else I could never be? A bus driver!! I’d wind up driving a bus full of rowdy kids right off a cliff! Kudos to all those who dedicate themselves to our children everyday! From the teachers, to the bus drivers, to the cafeteria staff. I certainly could never do it!
In other news, the Monroe County Sheriff’s office released photos this past week of the new bus that I’m certain my youngest daughter will be taking the majority of HER field trips on!
